Not difficult to find in the picture but the Double-banded Sandgrouse (Pterocles bicinctus), a lovely bird, is not easily seen as their camouflage blends it with its environment in an amazing way. This bird was sotted slowly crossing the road and moving into the grass by the road.

I saw this beast flying off from our verandah when I turned the light off early morning.

The moment the moth gets ready to fly, it is a different story! Quite beautiful.

The final beast from Salta as we are now moving to Africa again. It was spotted on some tree bark that stayed on the ground after collecting some firewood. See if you can see it.

I do not think that it was too hard… I should do better next time.

Very close to the Shingwedzi Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park we found this interesting beast. I think it is a nice challenge…

I am not sure if the monitor lizard “beast” lives in the tree hole or whether it was raiding  a nest in search of prey.

It was clearly enjoying watching the cars going by!

This curious “beast” was spotted while driving around in the Kruger National Park. This is what we saw. Can you see it also?

Spot the beast 26

We are very pleased to be back in our marvelous garden in Harare, always full of interesting findings.

Because of the prevailing cold weather combined with the very good rains Zimbabwe had, most garden creatures are still keeping a low profile. However, as usual, my wife called me the other day to see what she had found. This is what she spotted:

I know, it is a very easy one! However, when you look at the young shoots of the jacaranda where my wife found it, it would have been almost impossible for you to see it as it was for me in real life! This is the picture and I assure you that the chameleon is there somewhere!

Only the eyes reveal it below!

Finally, a proper picture of the beast in question. I really like its rolled up tail!

Spot the beast 22

As usual, during a walk we spotted this sight that offers a hidden beast that I thought I would put to you to discover. See if you can see it.

Being helpful, I can tell you two things: (i) I really liked the morning dew drops on the web and (ii) do not jump to conclusions too fast…

Here it is.

The “spider” you spotted on the right of the picture was either a dead one or an old exoskeleton of the real one that was located deep inside the web tunnel!

Back to Salta with another interesting creature for you to find.

I think this time it was rather easy but it is a lovely insect all the same and worth having a look at it. I call it the “lichenhopper!” Below some more close-ups of the beast.

Occasionally at our farm we spot these noisy creatures in the garden. Of course, they are difficult to spot if not to hear!
