A very green Kruger National Park meant that the animals were not concentrated near water. We drove many kilometres in search of interesting sightings but we failed to be impressed as in other ocassions. Trying to improve our luck, we took one of the dirt roads around Tamboti tented camp (1) and drove for many kilometres but our luck did not change. Not until we spotted this beast (or rather my wife did, as usual!).

“You make me stop for a buffalo sleeping under a tree?” “It is not a buffalo! Look at it properly.” came her reply.

Effectively, it was not and the find gave us hope that there are still white rhinos that, hopefully will slowly multiply and will become again an animal seen often as it was fifteen years ago.
